SAT vs ACT Prep

DOUBLE800 offers SAT and PSAT preparation, but does not offer ACT prep. While every college and university will accept either test for admission, the SAT is much more of a "coachable" test that is conducive to significant score improvement. Some students may inherently score better the ACT, but scores typically remain static, even after preparing for the ACT.

Additional Advantages of Preparing for (and Taking) the SAT and PSAT:

SAT is aligned with Common Core State Standards Initiative, adopted by 42 US States and the District of Columbia.

SAT Essay is aligned with The DBQ Project standards.

SAT is required by Illinois State Board of Education for all grade 11 students in public high schools as the state assessment exam (scores are entered on student's transcript), and the exam also can be used for college applications:

PSAT is an exact subset of SAT, so students can prepare for both tests at once.

PSAT is annual 11th grade test for National Merit Scholarship qualification.

SAT has fewer subjects than ACT.

SAT has less time pressure than ACT.

SAT only can be "superscored" (higher section scores from different tests can be combined) for college admission.

SAT test-taking skills are applicable to other standardized tests.

Double800 was a great experience for our school. We contracted with Micah (after interviewing Double800, Kaplan & Princeton Review) to teach a group of our juniors and seniors -- and the results were amazing! The increase in SAT scores for seniors was as much as 260 points; and the increase in PSAT scores for juniors qualified several as National Merit Scholars. Even better was the increase in confidence we saw. Students who took the class broadened their college horizons, and we have seen more applications to selective colleges and universities than we at first expected.

Thank you, Micah! We will definitely continue to recommend you to our students.
